Meet Hanika. I have the privilege to know and capture her in our multiple photoshoot session for the past months. I can see that she is full of energy and intelligence; a kind and sweet little girl. In short, beauty and brains. She is an aspiring talent of our future generation.

Kinderdijk

Kinderdijk is pronounce as [ˌkɪndərˈdɛi̯k]) or kinderdayk in Tagalog.

The village of Kinderdijk in South Holland is known for the 19 mills and the water pump that are located in the area. These windmills are located on the river Lek and have been used since 1738 for water management. Since it is below sea level, it would be completely submerged without the mills.

The place is amazing, it is very rustic and interesting. Today, I learned a lot on how Dutch managed to fight against the water, wherein they called it "Water Management". There is a saying "God created the Earth, but the Dutch created the Netherlands."

Klederdracht, the Dutch National Costume/Clothing

Wearing the traditional Dutch clothes in Volendam.

I don't do this very often, but today I was convinced and so excited to have myself and husband snapped wearing their traditional clothes. I think their Klederdracht fits well to me. And of course, husband looks good on it too.

In the present day, we often tend to discard unwanted clothes without a second thought. Not long ago, making clothes and going to specialised tailors was how the Dutch managed to maintain pristine outfits at all times. Whether rich or poor, all levels of society were mending their clothes and making them last. Cloth was almost always reused – a washed-out skirt could later be used as a lining for another garment after it had passed its best days. Dutch women usually wear an apron over their skirt, as what I am wearing. There are varieties like short and flowered or floor-length and plain, made from white or subdued colour fabric. During the winter months they often wear a shawl around their shoulders going down to attach at the waist. Men often wear a neckerchief with a woggle.

    Who am I.

I am Norain. I am a photographer and a traveler.

    I am back for good.

I’ve missed connecting with the online world. I’ve been idle for a very long time as I deactivated my blogspot page. I am feeling pretty good right now and motivated, things are moving along at the manageable pace. I set some goals and good intentions for 2020 and the upcoming years to come and I hope I can stick to them all the way.

I am more focus on my art in PHOTOGRAPHY and brave about putting it out into the world and make sure that I have the time to post them. Although, some of my shots are already in my website but I wanted to elaborate the journey and behind the scene of every photo that was taken.

    Back to where I belong.

"Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.

Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy: the experiences that make us the most vulnerable.

Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness we will discover the infinite power of our light" - Brene Brown

    My final destination.

    Update: Year 2020
After 2 years and 10 months living and operating my Photography business in the Philippines; we decided to move and live in Canada for good. I am positive that even when I am busy in my new cold world, I won't miss updating my blog.

Back to my roots, The Philippines

    Update: Year 2017

I do finally moved back to my country, The Philippines.

Adjustment is a huge thing know that I've been away for so long. I hope catching up won't burn me.

Let me explore my country once again and I will write about my journey soon.
